This wine is very special to me. It comes from a beautiful 30 year old vineyard in the foothills of the Tallarook ranges, just over the river from my home block. It's got everything that I love about my local Shiraz - the power and presence of Aussie Shiraz, with the balance, elegance and fine tannins typical of the area.
When new owners took over the property, they had no desire to keep running the vineyard, and the vines were facing an uncertain future. Without the support of Naked Wines, it would have been too risky for me to put my hands up and take on the challenge and help save this stunning established vineyard.
I've handmade this wine with love to create this powerful, concentrated Shiraz - full of the intense bramble and plum fruit flavours you'd expect, balanced with toasted spice and a fine tannin structure. It's hand picked, hand plunged, gently pressed, and aged in French oak - this beautiful fruit deserves to be treated with respect, so that's what I did!

The Lurtons have been producing elegant wines at Château de Barbe Blanche since the year 2000, when Jacques’ father Andre fell in love with its magnificent terroir. Ever since, the family have dedicated themselves to maximising its potential, and this exquisite blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc showcases the incredible quality they’ve been able to achieve.
Made using fruit from 30-year-old vines atop one of the highest plateaus in St Emilion, the Merlot brings red fruit aromas and silkyness whereas the Cabernet Franc gives freshness and tannins. Barrel ageing softens the wine and its tannins to a velvety touch in the mouth, while bringing tantalising hints of oak to an already complex wine.
Unmistakably a right bank Bordeaux, it’s a soft, fresh and elegant red. There are notes of cedar, cigar box and vanilla, even a touch of graphite, and then layers of ripe berry fruit, from blackberry to red cherry, before the wine finishes on silky-smooth tannins. A match made in heaven for yummy roast pork with all the trimmings.

My Old Vines Chenin Blanc comes from a very unique older vineyard, planted in 1977 on the Voorgroenberg Mountain in Wellington at around 400 metres above sea level.
These older vines give lower yields, thus a big concentration and complexity of flavours with the decomposed granite soils adding deep mineral and fresh natural acid characters, making it a world class example of what Chenin Blanc can taste like.
Granite, dusty minerality, quince, citrus, pineapple and herbs come together on a complex nose, with these flavours following through on the palate. The palate is fresh, delicate, yet powerful and rich all at the same time, in typical Old Vines style.

This is a very small production wine from some of our top vineyards - a really rather special wine. It’s made using grapes from our oldest Syrah vines in the village of Tuchan. The production of these vines is tiny and so we only make a small amount of this wine each year.
We pick all the grapes by hand and make the wine in small vats before ageing some of it in oak barrels. The yields are so low that the wine has a lovely balance and concentration. Deliciously rich and soft at the same time with mulberry fruits, liquorice, spice and brambles. The oak is present but so well integrated that it adds another dimension to the wine.
This is a style of wine more reminiscent of the Rhone than the Languedoc and it would be a lot more expensive there. It really shows the potential of old vines here in the Languedoc, especially when they are looked after like we look after them.

Getting your hands on a Bacchus of this quality without breaking the bank is normally mission impossible. But Angel funding has allowed Kieron to source premium grapes from across the country - from down in Kent to as far north as Yorkshire - to create an elegant, complex, refreshing white that truly represents the best of British.
The nose is bright and aromatic, with many of the hallmarks of a top Kiwi Sauvignon. Aromas of grapefruit, greengage and gooseberry dominate, with a lovely hint of rhubarb too. The palate has an incredible intensity, delivering waves of citrus fruit flavours from zesty lemon peel to refreshing grapefruit. And underneath it all there’s an impressive focus to the wine - in minerality, intensity and length.
Wines like this show Kieron is serious when he talks about putting England on the map as a country capable of producing some of the best wines in the world. He feels the potential is there. And when you taste his Bacchus for the first time, we think you’ll agree that he’s onto something.
N.B. This wine is topless, meaning the winemaker has chosen to bottle it without the foil wrap around the top of the cork to save on waste.

When Ray was warmly welcomed into Teona and Levan's city centre home in Tbilisi, he wasn't expecting to find a fully fledged winery in the back garden. Nor was he expecting the glass of wine they poured from one of their 3 tanks to be absolute nectar.
Their Saperavi (Georgia’s indigenous red grape variety) won Best Georgian Red and Grand Gold at the Mundus Vini wine awards. Some accolade! The wine is so pure, smooth, dense in fruit and texture. A fantastic glossiness and polish that reminds you why we love to drink red wine.
They have a minuscule production, but Ray managed to get hold of 1,200 bottles of the 2020 vintage. Since you're already on the inside track, you won't want to pass up the opportunity to be one of the first to try this super special bottle of Georgia's finest.
