Marlborough is best known for its Sauvignon Blanc, and thanks to Naked Wines it's also what most Angels associate with us. What is less well known is that Marlborough also has one of the best climates for Pinot Gris - cool enough to allow the grape to ripen with plenty of flavour, but also dry enough that we can pick at perfect ripeness.
We told Naked that we had found the perfect Pinot Gris from low yielding vineyards across Marlborough's Wairau and Awatere Valleys (one of the worlds premier cool climate wine producing regions). They said 'yep' to our proposal without batting an eyelid, which meant that we could grab the lot and get on with the job.
Our Small and Small Pinot Gris has been picked at perfect ripeness. It's crisp and refreshing, with delicious peach and nectarine aromas and crunchy pear flavours. We've made it to drink all year round so that you can enjoy Marlborough wherever you are!

With a drought looming, I had to look for growers that were better equiped for the 2015 harvest of my Western Cape Shiraz (including growers with older vineyards, the right slopes with the right amount of sunlight etc), and Angel funding made negotiations a breeze.
I decided to use vineyards from a few different areas to bring the best attributes to the wine, using grapes from Stellenbosch for the elegance and dark fruit, Elgin for the white pepper and finesse, Darling for the salt and pepper that I like in Shiraz from this region, and Wellington for earthy notes and more lush, dark fruit.
2015 was the best vintage in South Africa for the past 20 years, and all these vineyards have benefited from the vintage. The wine is mind blowing, not just because of the vines but because weather wise Mother Nature was just so good to us. I cannot express in words how proud I am of this wine. Congratulations, Angels for investing in such a beauty. Thank you from a very pleased and proud Angel funded winemaker...

Thanks to Angel funding, I was able to leave my local Cooperative and start making my own wine from my own vineyards. My family have been in the Cooperative since it started in 1913 (my grandpa planted the vineyards) so this is the beginning of a new adventure for me and my family.
The vineyards are in the small village of Tuchan on the Languedoc Roussillon border, surrounded by the natural countryside of wild herbs. The greedy wild boar munch their way through a fair amount of my grapes, and the low yields give a more concentrated style of wine. Your support gives me more time to work in the vineyard to produce a top quality wine for you without the stress of knowing where I am going to sell it.
My Corbieres is made from Carignan, Grenache and Syrah from vineyards that I have owned and worked since I was 16. Some of the vineyards I planted myself too! This is a big, full bodied, intense Corbières. It is a dry wine with spice and red fruits. There is no oak ageing, so it is packed with lovely red fruits with a touch of spice and herby flavours.

On the nose there are black berries, black cherry pie filling, cedar and some mild coffee notes. The palate is packed with layered fruit, oak complexities evolving to a finely grained tannin and juicy fruity finish.
