Marta Ramas and Miguel Fisac had every reason to be optimistic about 2020. Sales were up, the awards and critic scores were piling in. Then Covid came along, and changed everything.
The top restaurants who proudly stocked their wines all closed overnight. The winery was on the verge of closing down and selling Marta and Miguel’s lovingly handcrafted wines in bulk. Their wines were so good, we knew we had to find a way to save them.
Marta and Miguel call this the ‘big brother’ of their wines. Made from 100% old bush vine Tempranillo. Packed full of concentrated, plush, juicy red fruit and lavished with 15 months oak ageing to give a long, lingering finish.

When Dominique described the making of his 2008 vintage Cuvee Compostelle, he described a Winemakers paradise. Nestled discreetly beside the historical village of Saint-Emillion sits Château Côte Montpezat, 27 hectares of vines enjoying bright Bordeaux sunshine, cool winds and lusciously rich soil.
This is an unbeatable blend of Merlot, Cab Frank and Cab Sav, brought together in truly effortless Bordeaux-style with a silky touch of warming oak to give it that tell-tale complexity and pristine structure.
Garnet red in colour, glinting with coppery tones, there isn't a milliliter of this wine that doesn't sing with fresh red fruits and spices. A medium body and soft tannins allow the fresh flavours of blackcurrant and jammy strawberries to lead the way to a gently spiced liquorice finish. It's age gives the Cuvee Compostelle real presence and character - no need to wait around to get this bottle open!

The first time Rodolfo tried Pago de Los Balagueses Syrah, he knew that he had made a true jewel. But he shouldn't have been surprised. It just so happens that this Syrah was grown on the very land Rodolfo grew up on, which has now been granted 'Vino de Pago' status. That makes it one of Spain's 17 most prized vineyards.
The soil, microclimate, and long history of the vineyard are second to none. In fact there have been winemakers working in the area since the 5th century BC... how's that for established! Reflecting the land remains #1 to Rodolfo so organic and biodynamic production is essential.
Grown at a high flying 700m above sea level, the Syrah has bright acidity and delicately soft tannins. Ripe black fruit and deep plum flavours are the main event, offset with elegance by cracked black pepper spice.

It's rare to find a McLaren Vale Shiraz from 2018's hot, dry harvest knocking about - but those few grapes that saw the end of the region's heatwave, came out full of incredibly concentrated flavours - and a cult following too.
Lucky for us, Chalk Hill winemaker Jock Harvey salvaged enough of the premium grapes to make a rich wine with layers of dark chocolate, creamy nut and warming spiced pudding-in-a-glass flavours. It's a powerful wine that has caught the attention of Australia's revered wine critic, James Halliday, who gave the luscious red a massive 95 points, a rating he usually reserves for the likes of Penfold's Grange.
Chalk Hill is a small-batch, sixth-generation family-run winery in the heart of McLaren Vale. When lockdowns swept the globe in early 2020, it affected not only Jock and his team but also the many local families that support the winery. Angel funding means that Jock could continue to work with these families and focus on crafting incredible, boutique wines.

A bit like us, Katie is one for the underdog. Fed up with seeing white vineyards in her area being ripped out from the root, she took it upon herself to fight their corner. Discovering and shining a spotlight on underrated grapes is very much Katie's forte, so with her brand new Grenache Gris Grenache Blanc, she has done just that.
This is a polished, full blend of the two Grenache grapes, that boasts subtle yet crisply defined flavours of green apples, fragrant peaches and apricots. The two grapes create a dreamlike combination of a lightness of touch and a full round texture.
