If we were only allowed to grow one white and one red in the Strathbogie Ranges, the red would be Shiraz and the white would be Riesling. Strathbogie Riesling is a gift from nature.
It would be a crime not to make this wine, the majority of fruit comes from Dad's vineyard and the Riesling vines are now over 30 years old and naturally give a low yield of intensely flavoured fruit. Strathbogie Riesling is a personal favourite of mine, and it's a treat to be able to make it and know that it will make its way into the glass of wonderful Naked Wines Angels!
The wine has a pale gold colour, and is intensely aromatic. It has a lovely citrus blossom perfume, and refreshing crispness along with a lemon pith texture that adds interest - it is just lovely. Strathbogie Riesling also has capacity to age. Given time the wines become golden and get a honey on toast aroma. We have more old Strathbogie Riesling in the cellar at home than any other white.

Benjamin is one of our top winemakers, gaining credits all round with all our Angels. He's also a fabulously decent Frenchman. Even though we turned this down first time round, he still wanted his lovely Angels to enjoy it. We're so chuffed as it's an absolute blinder!
It's a Syrah blend with a big dollop of Grenache that makes it a classically Southern French red - big ballsy, juicy berry fruits, with lots of gumption to back it up and a naughty, spicy finish.
