About the wine
A clear, bright and brilliant Chenin made with plush fruit from rare, old vines
- Kobie and Faisal are two Naked veterans who have been making you palate perfect wines for over a decade. If anyone knows the secret to making wine that will get chins wagging and glasses filling, it’s these chaps.
- They have exclusive access to some protected, old chenin vines - they produce exceptional fruit but in very small quantities. This means that it’s a struggle to keep these vines in the ground, with fat cats desperate to snap up the land and few winemakers willing to take on the challenge. But thanks to your support Kobie and Faisal have been able to keep these Chenin vines out of harm's way and make a fabulous wine just for Angels with the fruit.
- Bright, clear and brilliant. This Chenin kicks off the party with generous stone fruit flavours - think cinnamon dusted yellow peach slices. It develops beautifully in the glass with hints of salted caramel and quince. Well-balanced and creamy, with a light, lingering freshness to finish.

Pair with rich seafood dishes (salmon, scallops, lobster), soft cheeses or cream-based chicken entrées . Lighter meats like veal and pork (roast pork belly, especially with apple sauce) works very well.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Kobie and Faisal
- Kobie was head winemaker at South Africa’s ancient Spier winery, with the oldest wine cellar in the land. Faisal was the business brains that transformed Spier into the nation’s most medalled winery in the 1990s.
- They bought a vineyard right next door to Spier, and for years sold them their grapes, which went into Spier’s top-of-the-range boutique wines.
- Angel backing now means they use their own grapes to make a range of game-changing wines that have become cult classics at Naked. If you like trying new wines that make you go, ‘where has this been all my life?’, you’ll love Kobie & Faisal.
