About the wine
- This is the first Croatian wine ever to appear in the Fine Wine Club, and it's about as authentic as they come.
- Produced from indigenous grapes that have been cultivated in the region since the thirteenth century, to produce a superbly fresh, refined and aromatic white.
-
It is exceptionally balanced, with an intense flavour and lovely finish. The wine is flavourful, harmonious and highly drinkable, with notes of peach on the finish.
Best before
Ideal to enjoy in autumn 2023, but it will be in great shape for the next two years.
Serving advice
Best served between 8-10°C in a tulip shaped glass.
Food match
Malvazija is a versatile wine easy to pair with a variety of dishes from Istrian prosciutto and meats to seafood, white fish, pasta with truffles and risotto with scampi. It will perfectly pair well with poultry and veal. It wonÂ’t overshadow the flavours of these dishes, but pleasantly emphasise them.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Marino Markezic
- Marino’s family have been making traditional Croatian wines since his Grandfather planted a small group of indigenous Momjan Muscat vines 130 years ago. They were vines of such immense quality that the Markezic's are still making glorious wines from them today.
- Alongside the family winery, Kabola, the vines sit on the picturesque northwestern Istrian peninsula, with a view of the Alps and the Dolomites on one side and a beautiful sea panorama on the other.
- Marino’s respect for nature and focus on authenticity is at the heart of every decision he makes in the winery. But this doesn’t mean he’s afraid of challenging tradition - since opening the winery, Marino has insisted upon using amphoras rather than traditional barrels, leaning into an exciting, forward-looking style of winemaking.
