About the wine
A rich, buttery Chard full of signature Burgundy finesse and style
- This little chardonnay has been years in the making, with several generations of the Borcard family playing vital roles in making it the rich golden bombshell of a wine that stands before you today.
- The family have been cultivating their small vineyard in the Burgundy's Meursault region since the 1920s and have been taking their vines from strength to premium strength ever since. In fact, Guy's father is the one responsible for planting the now 60 year old Chardonnay vines behind the buttery rich Chard inside this bottle. The man deserves a medal.
- Grown at a breezy 230 meter altitude, the grapes are whisked away into posh French oak barrels. After doing it's thang for 12 luxurious months, this glorious Bourgogne Cote d'Or emerges a pale golden colour, with a full and blooming palate of ripe creamy peaches and a gentle, well considered touch of oaky warmth.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Rene Mora
- I arrived in Burgundy from the South of France in 1989, at the time I was a grape picker for the domaine Guy Bocard. I stayed working with Guy for 13 years before leaving to seek new challenges with some big names in and around Burgundy, such as Maison Louis Jadot, Hubert Lamy, Mestre Michelot.
- When Guy retired in 2020, he asked me to step up to the plate and take over his vineyard - I absolutely jumped at the opportunity. I have so many good memories working for Guy - after all, it was Guy who gave me my start in winemaking and taught me almost everything I know… returning to take charge of the vineyard makes me feel as though the circle is completed, back to my roots.
- I have always been passionate about the culture of the wine and I bring a lot of care to the organic and agroforestry method, which is a hugely important part of my process. I put my whole heart into every single vine, so you can be assured that each wine is made with true passion and love.
