Market Price
To show you the value you're getting as an Angel...
We regularly benchmark a selection of our wines against up to three comparable wines on the market. The Market Price is based on the price of those wines.
What do we mean by benchmark? We taste them blind against our own wines, or we use our market knowledge (over 40 years between us) to set an industry standard Market Price.
If you buy one of our wines and disagree with the Market Price, or it's not your cup of tea, we'll add a credit to your account. For more info, see our FAQS.

About the wine
Julien's super light and delicate Volnay is heaven-in-a-glass for Pinot Noir purists
-
Perhaps the lightest and most elegant of Julien’s trio of Côte de Beaune reds. This is definitely a wine for the Pinot Noir purists.
-
Aged for 12 months in French oak for added complexity, on the nose you’ll get subtle hints of raspberries and a leafy freshness, with tannins as light as a feather.
-
A wine this complex and delicate can easily be enjoyed on its own, sipped slowly, so you can savour every mouthful. But if you’re planning on having this wine with food, it doesn’t get much better than roast turkey with all the trimmings (perhaps paired with sleigh bells and stockings). And if that’s not for you, it should also slip down a treat with anything cheesy, mushroomy or even pepperoni pizza-y.

Serving advice
Serve lightly chilled at 14-16°C
Food match
A light Pinot Noir like this is the perfect pairing for roast turkey. But it would also go well with cheeses (just not anything too powerful like Gorgonzola) as well as mushroom dishes and pizzas.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Julien Cauvard
-
Julien is the latest in a long line of Cauvards to run his family estate, dating back to the 17th century. It’s located in the heart of Burgundy near the region’s winemaking capital – Beaune.
-
Naturally, given winemaking DNA runs deep in his veins, Julien handles every part of the process – from vine to bottle – to ensure each wine he makes reflects Burgundy’s terroir and its vintage.
-
His winemaking philosophy is as clean as his wines – focused on sustainability and a respect for the environment. He uses natural fertilisers and energy-efficient concrete tanks to keep all his bottles au naturale.
