Market Price
To show you the value you're getting as an Angel...
We regularly benchmark a selection of our wines against up to three comparable wines on the market. The Market Price is based on the price of those wines.
What do we mean by benchmark? We taste them blind against our own wines, or we use our market knowledge (over 40 years between us) to set an industry standard Market Price.
If you buy one of our wines and disagree with the Market Price, or it's not your cup of tea, we'll add a credit to your account. For more info, see our FAQS.

About the wine
Fine, oak-aged Burgundy from a prestigious pocket of the Côte de Beaune
-
Hailing from one of the most densely-planted, vine-packed areas of Burgundy, home to the famed Grand Cru vineyards of Corton, this supple and delicate Aloxe-Corton is one for the fine French wine lovers of the world.
-
Right now this is a subtle red with aromas of cranberry and raspberry, light toasty notes from oak ageing, and a pinch of pepper on the palate. But given time to age this wine should develop into a beautifully complex beast, with more earthy characteristics - think pistachio nuts, leather and truffles - and dried fruit flavours.
-
Our tip is to stash a bottle or two away in your wine rack then come back in a few years’ time to savour it over something plucked, stuffed and roasted. Julien says he’d plump for something gamey like pheasant or quail, but a nice farm shop chicken or turkey is also perfect. Then as you pour it, make sure to give your glass a big old swirl to release all those lovely complex aromas, then sniff, sip... and smile.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Julien Cauvard
-
Julien is the latest in a long line of Cauvards to run his family estate, dating back to the 17th century. It’s located in the heart of Burgundy near the region’s winemaking capital – Beaune.
-
Naturally, given winemaking DNA runs deep in his veins, Julien handles every part of the process – from vine to bottle – to ensure each wine he makes reflects Burgundy’s terroir and its vintage.
-
His winemaking philosophy is as clean as his wines – focused on sustainability and a respect for the environment. He uses natural fertilisers and energy-efficient concrete tanks to keep all his bottles au naturale.
