About the wine
This is Grüner Veltliner turned up to "wow"
Grüner Veltliner is Austria’s superstar white, and this Reserve from one of the country’s top organic producers is bottled at its absolute best.
The Zillingers give credit to their limestone-rich Ollersdorf vineyards, and the warm days and cool nights in their corner of the Weinviertel that give the fruit its gorgeous ripeness and crunchy acidity. They practise a gentle, no-shortcuts winemaking philosophy – hand-picking, whole-bunch pressing, natural fermentation and ageing on lees for extra depth of flavour.
On the first sip, you’ll get pure apples, pears and stone fruit freshness, then layers of tropical fruit, pastries and minerality that just keeps you going back for more. You can enjoy it now, or stash it away for a decade to develop even more complexity (if you’ve got the willpower). Either way, whoever you share it with has seriously lucked out.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Herbert Zillinger
- Herbert has been at the reigns of his family estate in the Weinviertel (Austria's most sought after winemaking region) since he was just twenty. Another twenty years on and he's one of the most sought after Veltliner producers in the world, grabbing the interest of big shot wine critics like Robert Parker and Jancis Robinson.
- Dedicated to the sustainability of his wines, Herbert uses biodynamic farming to make sure he's feeding back into the land rather than purely taking from it. It's all about keeping it natural and ignoring passing fads. You won't catch Herbert compromising his style for anyone.
- He lets the land set the trends for him, creating sophisticated natural wines that speak to the robust structure and bright zippy flavours that make Weinviertel wines so vibrant and distinctive.
