We regularly benchmark a selection of our wines against up to three comparable wines on the market. The Market Price is based on the price of those wines.
What do we mean by benchmark? We taste them blind against our own wines, or we use our market knowledge (over 40 years between us) to set an industry standard Market Price.

What started as a small, hand-harvested Mourvèdre has become one of Domaine Virgile Joly’s most iconic organic wines. Made using the classic trio of Mourvèdre, Syrah, and Grenache from the up-and-coming region of Terrasses du Larzac – it was the first wine blend created by Magda alongside Virgile and is very much her masterpiece.

A wine that’s both powerful and elegant, alongside its dark fruit flavours and notes of spices, cocoa and violets, this is a wonderfully savoury red, full of the dried herb aromas which dominate this region. It’ll make your weekly steak night feel like a five-star meal.

Meet the winemaker - Virgile Joly
- Virgile Joly is almost annoyingly perfect. He's ultra organic, with the certificates to prove it. Dashingly good looking, with a beautiful wife, Magda, (who fell in love with him after one harvest). Stupidly talented with wine, he has glowing reviews from the doyenne of wine writing, Jancis Robinson.
- Plus he's not afraid of hard work. He bottled his first vintage himself. 3,000 bottles, Virgile and a funnel. Now that's dedication!
- 10 years later, he's producing some of the Languedoc's most sought after wines and we're using Angel funding to help him expand his winery and go on to even greater things. Plus his surname brings a smile to our face every time we see it - what's not to like!
