About the wine
Beautiful sparkling blend from a family of winemakers
-
“Methode Traditionnelle”, the same winemaking process used in Champagne and our Sparkling 1816 is a blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Folle Blanche. The Chardonnay brings aromatics and fruitiness and the Folle Blanche, a dry, local and historic varietal, brings freshness and elegance.
-
From grape to glass, we are there for every step of the winemaking process and are so proud to bring Angels this handcrafted, family wine. Enjoy the fine bubbles, notes of quince and brioche and great freshness in the mouth.
-
The name is a tribute to Joseph Gregoire, the first Lieubeau, who was left abandoned as an orphan in the porch of the hospital in Nantes in 1816. He was the founder of both our family and winery.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Francois and famille Lieubeau
- Nantes is best known as the birthplace of sci-fi legend Jules Verne, but thanks to the Lieubeau family, it’s now on the winemaking map. In fact, their wine-loving ancestors arrived there before Verne was even born.
- Now Francois and co. have decided to combine the Loire’s claims to fame, and we think they’ve come up trumps with this magnificent Muscadet. Decadently dry with citrus aplenty, this is your perfect summer sipper.
The label is based on one of Verne’s most famous stories, a journey into the unknown. Take your own “voyage extraordinaire” with this unusual wine made of pure Melon de Bourgogne, only grown in Muscadet. The label even makes food pairing simple - it’s a classic match with seafood!
