F. Stephen Millier Black Label California Cabernet Sauvignon 2022
About the wine
Stephen found some incredible Cabernet in the Sierra Foothills
- This turbo-charged Reserve version of Stephen’s Cabernet boasts a full-throttle kick of dark red fruit and silky vanilla & spice.
- When you start searching the Foothills for Cab, the quality jumps in leaps and bounds. Enough heat to get bold and juicy flavours, and a cooling breeze to keep it classy.
- Tender, juicy steak, sizzling on the grill until it's cooked just right... it's the perfect pairing (if you don't finish the whole bottle while you're cooking).
Best before
This wine will handle some age quite nicely for the next 3 to 5 years so you don't have to stress out about drinking it too soon. Or is that too late?
Serving advice
Just because I said you don't have to stress out about opening one of these bad boys too soon doesn't mean you should put them away and forget about it. Once you've got your cellar stocked you can feel free to open one up for any occasion anytime. How liberating! Give it about 45 minutes to open up after taking out the cork and pour that first glass. Good luck with that! I can't even follow my own advice.
Food match
This wine is a big boy, so I say "go big or go home" which means it needs a big-time dinner presentation. That's when we prepare the 3-finger steak. Just tell the butcher that. If they don't know what you mean, find another butcher. Slow roast this bad boy over indirect flame 'till it reaches about 115 degrees then pull it off the fire to relax. While its relaxing slather some herb infused melted butter all over it. After about 15 minutes put it back on the grill over the flames to finish. Keep turning it over until it reaches your doneness. This technique is called reverse sear and all the work is really worth it.
Contains sulphites
Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Stephen Millier
- Stephen is no stranger to a gold medal or two... but usually his prestigious employers are the only ones in the limelight.
- When Stephen offered to set aside some of his favourite wines and vineyards to make a special range with his name on the label just for Angels, we jumped at the opportunity.
- If you like underdogs, Stephen's your man. He will find the overlooked and under-appreciated and he will take precious care to make sure they grow into big, beautiful wines that deserve more attention.
