About the wine
Nuria and Rafael just got the keys to Ribera del Duero
- Two of our most talented Spanish winemakers, Nuria Altés and Rafael de Haan, have taken the reins on this top-quality red – bringing their old-vine know-how and detail-obsessed winemaking to one of Spain’s great red wine regions: Ribera del Duero.
- Famous for Tempranillo with depth, power and polish, Ribera del Duero’s high-altitude vineyards mean hot days for ripe, juicy flavour, and cool nights to keep everything fresh, structured and nicely balanced.
- This particular Ribera del Duero has all the good stuff and then some. Think deep colour, ripe dark berries, strawberries and plums, with delicious oaky notes, and an earthy, mineral side that makes it feel extra smart (but still plush and generous). Just the thing for lamb, steak or a barbecue that’s gone a bit posh.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Núria Altés and Rafael de Haan
- Núria Altés comes from a long line of grape-growers. From playing in her grandfather’s vines as a child to bottling her first wine with her father’s grapes, Núria is proud of her winemaking roots. So in 2010 Núria and her partner Rafael set up a little winery in the Terra Alta region - called Herència Altés.
- What makes their wines so special is the grapes come exclusively from Núria's family vineyards which host a selection of seasoned old vines ranging from 40 to 90 years old. In other words you're getting impeccable concentrated flavours you don't find on the average supermarket shelf.
- They’ve gone from strength to strength, picking up awards and Parker Points galore. That was until Covid-19 turned their world upside down. Luckily, 3,000 Angels stepped in and snapped up a case of their premium wines. Angel support means they can plan their future harvests with confidence.
