About the wine
Who let the Kiwis make Albariño this delicious? Spoilers: it was you
-
Albariño may be a Spanish classic, but Nicky’s pulled off something properly exciting in New Zealand’s cool coastal climate. Those bright days, cold nights and salty sea breezes turn out to be perfect for the variety’s thick skins and natural acidity – giving her the freedom to make a version that’s both true to its roots and distinctly Kiwi.
-
This wine only exists because Angels gave Nicky the freedom to do it properly. She sourced pristine, low-yield fruit from standout coastal sites, fermented cool and slow to lock in those delicate aromatics, then let it rest on fine lees for months to build texture and depth. No rushing. Just the Albariño she always wanted to make.
-
Albariño ages like a champ. Right now it’s bursting with lime zest, passionfruit, sweet citrus and saline freshness… but give it time and you’ll see hints of honeyed richness drift in without losing that zippy acidity. Utterly refreshing and tailor-made for seafood – grilled octopus, ceviche, oysters, fish and chips… if it swims, this wine’s ready.

Seafood, seafood, seafood! Especially grilled octopus or ceviche. That bright acidity and salinity is absolutely perfect - it cuts through the richness and amplifies those fresh ocean flavours.
