About the wine
Oscar doesn't use any oak in his Tempranillo, so it's seriously easy drinking and dangerously moreish, packed with succulent, ripe red cherries and damsons, with a wink of vanilla
-
We’ve made $5 million available to help struggling wineries to survive and come out the other side of this Covid crisis. The closure of bars and restaurants across the globe has been a disaster for the independent winemakers who supply them. The little guys, without connections to the big supermarkets, are the ones who are suffering the most.
-
And one of the worst places in the world to be a small, family winemaker was Northern Spain. For the little guys - who sell most of their stock to local bars, cafes and restaurants - the toughest lockdown in Europe has spelled disaster for their business.
-
Oscar doesn’t use any oak in his Tempranillo, so it’s seriously easy drinking and dangerously moreish, packed with succulent, ripe red cherries and damsons, with a wink of vanilla. Made to be guzzled with the finest tapas known to man.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Oscar Aragon
- In Northern Spain, just a few kilometres South West of Rioja, lies Ribera del Duero - a beautiful valley with a famously harsh climate that is known for its knockout reds and classy whites. It’s here where Oscar and his family call home.
- The area saw a boom in popularity in the 90’s which is precisely when the Aragon family opened the doors of ‘Cillar de Silos’ and they have been producing some lip-smackingly good tipples ever since. It’s a true family affair there with their father, Amalio (alongside a group of pickers with an average age of 75!), carefully hand harvesting the grapes each year.
- Oscar’s deep love of the land and passion for wine led him away from farming cereals and straight into the vineyards. You can look forward to some seriously elegant little drops from this winery... they've already picked up a number of impressive awards - including one for best winery in the region!
