About the wine
Deep and full bodied Syrah with layers of ripe dark fruit, rounded off with that all important touch of spice
-
Cerina is a super talented winemaker who knows a secret that few SA winemakers are yet to catch on to. Whilst working out in the West Coast bushland of South Africa, she discovered a handful of old bush vines - sitting at a dizzying 400m altitude with cool Atlantic breezes, these vines were built to make premium quality wines. Fact.
-
This luxurious and tummy-warming red is a prime example of what makes South African Syrah so darn good. It’s a rich feast of blueberries and deep blackberry flavours with a touch of cinnamon and nutmeg to bring it all together.
-
It’s already super-delicious and ready-to-enjoy right now but give it a couple of years and those flavours will just multiply. A dreamy Syrah like this cries out for a special slap-up meal so our tip is to save it for your next birthday or anniversary, then pour yourself a glass and enjoy with a juicy steak in peppercorn sauce and a side of chunky chips. Yummy.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Cerina van Niekerk
-
Cerina van Niekerk has two passions in life - music and winemaking - and for over 20 years she’s been making exquisite wines to show off the best of her South African homeland.
-
For Cerina, the most special part of winemaking is the diversity. Each wine is a unique expression of where it was made and her role is to make it sing in the glass. She picks the best Saffer grapes packed with natural flavour and guides them from vine to bottle, her gentle, magic touch brings it all together.
-
She almost became a full-time musician, but growing up in the heart of South Africa’s wine country, the call of the vineyard was too strong. Through blending her two passions, the Cecilia Foundation was born, providing music teachers for disadvantaged kids in her Citrusdal community.
