Market Price
To show you the value you're getting as an Angel...
We regularly benchmark a selection of our wines against up to three comparable wines on the market. The Market Price is based on the price of those wines.
What do we mean by benchmark? We taste them blind against our own wines, or we use our market knowledge (over 40 years between us) to set an industry standard Market Price.
If you buy one of our wines and disagree with the Market Price, or it's not your cup of tea, we'll add a credit to your account. For more info, see our FAQS.

About the wine
Our first-ever South African Petite Sirah is deep, dark, and devilishly decadent
-
If you like your reds big, juicy, and ravishing, this is the wine for you. Petite Sirah, also known as Durif, is a grape most often found in super-hot climates like Australia and the USA, where it’s usually mixed with lighter grape varieties to create red blends with supercharged flavour. But we’d never even considered the possibility of a 100% Petite Sirah from South Africa, until Carmen Stevens sent us a bottle of this and our whole world changed.
-
In the glass it’s midnight dark and just pulls you in to discover its secrets, then it hits you with those lush aromas of ripe black fruits and liquorice. Finally, you take a sip and it’s all rich and chocolatey, with a whole heap of deep, dark fruit like rich blackberry pie. Awesome.
-
It takes a seriously skilled winemaker like Carmen to create pure, full-bodied Petite Sirah that delivers on that all-out intensity and deep fruity flavour but still feels like a proper luxurious drop. This one is right on the money, and a game-changer for South African wine.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Carmen Stevens
- From humble roots, Carmen blazed a trail, to become head winemaker at a prestigious winery in South Africa. Her wines won medals by the truckload, yet she couldn’t even get a bank overdraft to start her own business.
- That was until Angel funding allowed her to finally fulfil her dream of setting up her own winery. Carmen has gone from strength to strength ever since, winning countless awards (including being voted your Winemaker of the Decade!)
- With your support, coupled with her sheer passion and determination, Carmen is helping to create a better future for thousands of hungry South African children thanks to Angel donations.
