To show you the value you're getting as an Angel...
We regularly benchmark a selection of our wines against up to three comparable wines on the market. The Market Price is based on the price of those wines.
What do we mean by benchmark? We taste them blind against our own wines, or we use our market knowledge (over 40 years between us) to set an industry standard Market Price.
If you buy one of our wines and disagree with the Market Price, or it's not your cup of tea, we'll add a credit to your account. For more info, see our FAQS.

About the wine
This masterful red blend is the truest expression of the magic of the Douro Valley
- The Caminho da Costa Tinto Reserva comes from the Pinhão Valley in the Cima Corgo - a small region at the very heart of the Douro. Although this is a region famed for its Port wines, the higher elevations of the region produce exceptional wines with a unique richness and longevity.
- This wine is grown on such slopes, using five different varieties of grape, all of which combine to create this modern expression of Douro Tinto.
- The Douro is all about the magic of the blend. All five grape varieties combine to create a firm structure and textured palate, before opening up into luxurious layers of dark jammy fruit and ripe red berries. It’s a wine full of vibrance and excitement, whilst staying true to its traditional plush and indulgent Douro Valley roots.

Food match
I recommend a meaty stew (pork knee is the classic in the Douro) to soak up all the flavour of this Douro Tinto Reserva.

Wine profile
Meet the winemaker - Joao Pires
-
Not many children dream of a career turning grapes into wine, but João Pires knew from an early age he was headed for the vineyard. After completing a degree in winemaking in 2005, he went straight on to his very first vintage.
-
His expressive wines are critically acclaimed, catching the attention of Decanter who awarded one of his Portuguese classics an almost unheard of 97%-rating and platinum medal.
-
João's winemaking career is centred in the region where he was born and raised. The Douro native knows the land like the back of his hand and knows all the best grape-growing spots - he's involved in every aspect of winemaking, from hours tending the vines to bottling the wines, it's a labour of love.
