The Nook and Nook Brewhouse started out as merely The Nook, nee The Rose and Crown. Owned and run by the Roberts family for over 40 years, the Nook has been a real ale haven and regular entry to The Good Beer Guide throughout this period, enjoying success through it's Annual Summer Beer Festival, which is now in its 8th year, now also hosting a Spring Beer Festival starting in 2010. The sibling owners of The Nook, Ian Roberts and Sheila Sutton took the reigns in 2000 following the untimely passing of their father, David Roberts. Since then Ian and Sheila have followed in their father's footsteps continuing the proud real ale tradition of the Nook. In 2008 construction began on a plot of land to the rear of The Nook, this was to become The Nook Brewhouse. Nestled just above the confluence of the Holme and Ribble rivers, The Nook Brewhouse commenced brewing in July of 2009 with it's first batch; Nook Brew' 3.7%. Since then the Nook Brew House has grown, Nook Brew has become Nook Yorks' and the brewery now crafts a wide variety of ales ranging from pales and blondes, to deep red ales and stouts. The brewery received its first award in recognition of the quality of its ale, when Nook Blond won Beer of the Festival 2009 at the Lichfield, Sutton and Tamworth CAMRA beer festival. The brewery itself is a 5 barrel plant which was built by Fred Shaws & Sons to exact specifications to fit perfectly into the bespoke brewhouse. Roughly 40 barrels a week are produced, some of which go into the brewery taps; The Nook and Carniceria, but most go out across the country to pubs, bars and festivals.

Why pay more?
Our Angels support independent winemakers by investing £25 a month into their Naked Wines account, to spend whenever they want - in return for discounts, freebies, exclusive wines and more.
Smart move - you've found the Sweet Spot
When it comes to wine, a small step in price = a HUGE leap in quality and taste.
By spending £8-£11 for a bottle of wine, you're actually getting more than DOUBLE the quality of wine than a £6-£7 bottle.
Here's how it works...
In your average £6-£7 wine most of the price goes on fixed costs like taxes, duty, bottling and transport... leaving fewer pennies for the wine itself.
But by spending just a pound or two more, the majority of those fixed costs stay the same, so more pennies are going straight into the stuff you can actually taste, creating a big leap in quality.
