Born of a desire to see more beer produced by independent brewers in Ireland, Metalman Brewing is the brain-child of a couple of beer enthusiasts who were frustrated by the lack of availability and choice of flavoursome, authentically Irish beer. Inspired by some of the other small Irish brewers, they eventually decided to try and help do something about it. Grainne Walsh, Tim Barber Metalman Owners founders brewers managers Business plans were written, torn up, and written again. Locations were scouted, breweries were visited, and of course various different beers were sampled to ensure they were researching the correct product portfolio. Dirty job, but someone's gotta do it.Gráinne called time on her I.T. career in Jan 2011 to focus full-time on establishing the brewery, while Tim did the honourable thing and stayed put at the day-job to pay the bills. The first beer, Metalman Pale Ale, was brewed under contract at the White Gypsy Brewery in Templemore, and launched in March 2011 to a great reception. The Waterford brewery was commissioned at the Tycor Business Centre (eventually) and production was moved across in May 2012. Since then, they've been busy turning out lots of pale ale and squeezing in a seasonal brew (or two) every few weeks. Tim finally gave in and jumped ship from the rat-race in April 2013 to don his wellies full-time. Metalman Tramore Statue BeerThe name of the brewery is inspired by a navigational aid on the Waterford coast. The figure of the Metal Man was erected in 1823 after a military transport ship called the Sea Horse was wrecked off the Tramore coast, resulting in a significant loss of life. The Metal Man stands on one of three pillars overlooking the bay, his purpose to guide seafarers, and keep them on their true course. We hope that our beers will do the same for you! Some of our team! Our brewery! Final Canning preparations! Tim's a great (w)Rapper! Brains of the operation! Don't fall in! Cheers! Cans loaded! Our quality control inspector checking Tim's cleaning! Only the finest equipment for Metalman! Time to add the hops! Preparing the Grist! Kegs ready for delivery! Where do you want these hundreds of thousands of cans? So many cans, so little drinking time! Our brewery!

Why pay more?
Our Angels support independent winemakers by investing £25 a month into their Naked Wines account, to spend whenever they want - in return for discounts, freebies, exclusive wines and more.
Smart move - you've found the Sweet Spot
When it comes to wine, a small step in price = a HUGE leap in quality and taste.
By spending £8-£11 for a bottle of wine, you're actually getting more than DOUBLE the quality of wine than a £6-£7 bottle.
Here's how it works...
In your average £6-£7 wine most of the price goes on fixed costs like taxes, duty, bottling and transport... leaving fewer pennies for the wine itself.
But by spending just a pound or two more, the majority of those fixed costs stay the same, so more pennies are going straight into the stuff you can actually taste, creating a big leap in quality.
