The Cross Keys is closely associated with Mallard Brewery, a microbrewery located at nearby Maythorne (landlord Steve Hussey is also Chief Brewer). Mallard produces a range of fine, traditionally brewed ales ranging from classic bitters through pale and golden ales to stouts. Interestingly, a beer festival organised at the Cross Keys in the 1990s provided the debut for Mallard beers when the brewery was first started. Now some 20 or so years later, with both the brewery and pub under the control of Steve and Alison, the Cross Keys has become the principal tap for Mallard ales.Beer drinkers can enjoy a fine selection of craft-brewed cask ales which revel in names such as Duck n Dive', Quackerjack' and Spitting Feathers'. Just look for the distinctive pump clips to see what's on offer. Of course, the Mallard ales are complemented by a wide range of others beers and by a selection of fine wines so whatever your tipple, The Keys' has the answer.
