Hamelsworde brewery is a small family owned brewery which is housed in the rear of a small brewery Tap on Kirkby Road, Hemsworth, Pontefact. The 2 1/2 barrel brewery now brews Hand-Crafted Ales which supply our own tap, local pubs and beer festivals. Brewer Dan Jones was a keen home brewer for 15 years and has spent his time perfecting recipes prior to the launch of Hamelsworde Brewery in April 2013. The time spent perfecting recipes was rewarded when the first beer, Colin Brown Ale, won the award for Best Strong Beer at Doncaster Ale festival in it's very first outing. Haley's Comet was then featured in the Yorkshire Evening Post as the Beer of the Week. Initially the brewery operated from a 1 barrel kit in the garage of the family home. It was a installed in April 2013 and Dan began scaling up the recipes from the 50 litre Homebrew kit that Dan started with. Once Dan was happy with the core range of beers, he began to widen the range that appear regularly, to include a best bitter, Hemsworth Challenger and a ever-changing blonde, Pacific Blonde. Both have been well received with Pacific Blonde disappearing from shelves quickly. May 2014 saw the launch of the Mining Range of beers which includes Blacklegs Stout, Lamplight Coffee and Walnut Porter and Smokestacks Smoked porter.
