BREWING beer is one of the great crafts of Britain and this tradition continues in Devon's Exmoor country by the well-named Clearwater Brewery. Using local waters and natural ingredients, this small brewery has been producing a range of cask-conditioned beers for nearly 15 years with growing success. During the last three years, Clearwater's reputation for distinctive, quality beers has expanded from its heartland in north Devon to the whole county, neighbouring counties and now much further afield across parts of England and Wales. With a cask beer range of six regular brands, Clearwater is poised for even greater growth thanks to a loyal local following, and an expanding regional and national customer base. Unfortunately, we cannot bring you the delightful tastes and the smells of our beers through your computer screen but we do recommend that you look out for Clearwater products in pubs and off licences in your area. To see further details on us, what we brew, how we brew and where you can obtain our range, please explore our website. Alternatively, call in or ring us - we love to talk to our customers. Clearwater Brewery started life in 1998 in the small-but-perfectly-formed town of Great Torrington, North Devon. Taking its name from the purity of the local water supply that forms an integral part of each tantalising mouthful of beer, the company has become an ever-growing local success story. From small beginnings the company used carefully selected recipes to build a local following and a well-earned reputation for delicious and characterful ales. Clearwater's reputation and its beers have gradually grown throughout the local region. Under new management from 2009, each of Clearwater's distinctive beers has been given a make-over, with recipes subtly tweaked to increase use of local ingredients, and an eye-catching "Devon's Own" new look that celebrates the fine county that gave birth to the ales that Clearwater produces. The high quality of the existing recipes has been maintained throughout, and Clearwater has been putting their expertise to good use by developing new beers to tempt drinkers. Over the past few years Clearwater has been gradually increasing the beer range, taking in different strengths, ingredients, and seasonal variations. The company has also been building on their already good reputation so that you can now enjoy a pint or two of Devon Dympsy and Real Smiler in pubs not just in Devon and the South West, but further afield into the rest of England and Wales. Clearwater beers have been appearing at an array of real ale festivals and other events throughout the South West and into other parts of England, and are causing a stir among tastebuds wherever they go. September 2012 saw Clearwater join with national drinks distributor LWC, who are now the exclusive distributor for Clearwater within the South West. Through LWC's vast network the beers can reach parts of the country that haven't yet tasted their delights, helping Clearwater to become a recognisable name for delicious real ale from Bideford to Birmingham and Great Torrington to Greater Manchester. Another recent innovation is the introduction of Clearwater beer in bottles so that you can enjoy the Devon-brewed taste from the comfort of your sofa as well as the comfort of a bar stool. These are available to purchase from this website. And in 2014 Clearwater took the plunge and has taken on new premises, moving the brewery from the original site at Great Torrington to a bigger purpose-built home in the thriving town of Bideford in order to make the most important thing in the world to a real ale fan more beer!
