So, how do we set prices?

Because our wines aren’t made like supermarket ones, they’re not priced the same either.

The thing is, it’s genuinely impossible to make a great bottle of wine for a fiver. By the time you factor in duty, bottling, transport, and operating costs, there’s barely anything left for the actual wine. So you can imagine that someone (hint, the winemaker) is getting squeezed.

That’s why we partner with independent winemakers who focus on quality, not bulk production. Our wines might not dip as low as £5, but they’re worth every penny – and you can taste it.

Naked benchmarking

Let’s talk about benchmarking and what that means for you. When you browse our (virtual) shelves, you’ll notice that every wine you come across has two different prices:

💰 Market Price – The price you’d pay if you bought wine like this from another retailer, like a supermarket.

😇 Angel Price – The exclusive price our Angels (aka you) pay which is up to 33% less than the Market Price.

Benchmarking at Naked means that we regularly compare our wines against up to three similar ones on the market. We taste test every wine blind (like Toby here) and if a wine doesn’t stack up, we simply retaste against other wines and adjust the Market Price – or, we go back to the winemaker to tweak the next vintage.
