About the wine
A Naked first... meet Bulgaria's hero grape
- This is the most popular and charismatic grape variety native to Bulgaria. Mavrud is part of our Bulgarian wine and general culture - I hope Angels will love it as much as we do.
- Naked Wines is using the most powerful tools – innovations and internet. Investing in winemakers and giving the opportunity for direct interaction between the customers and the winemakers is a revolution and fair game for each party – this win-win philosophy is very attractive to us.
- Spicy, fruity, oaky wine with a good maturing potential and typical local character. Very good acidity, with an abundance of stewed-fruit flavours on the palate with a herbal characteristic we hope you'll love.

Serve at 16-18°C. Open/Decant 30+ minutes before serving
Food match
BBQs, grills, roasts, pasta dishes and all types of cheese (except spicy ones) - especially red meat that is lightly grilled. I would pair it with the Thracian pork with honey crisp and potatoes, that we serve in the restaurant next to the cellar. You are warmly welcome to come and visit us here in Starosel and we could undertake a nice little gourmet adventure.

Meet the winemaker - Angel Angelov
- Angel is a man on a mission to raise the profile of Bulgarian wines back to their former glory by making some seriously stunning, premium drops.
- With selective picking and low intervention winemaking, Angel uses a soft and delicate approach to get the most from his vines.
- He says "the unbelievable terroir of the Thracian Plain is an amazing foundation that must be preserved" - Angel funding will help him do just that!
